The towing capacity of the 2023 F350 is supported by various Ford Tow Technologies which we will discuss below.

Let’s explore the 2023 Ford F350 Towing Capacity with towing charts, engine configuration, towing features, and more.

2023 Ford F350 Engine Options

All-new 2023 F350 is available with four different engine options including a 6.8L V8 Gas, 7.3L V8 Gas, 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel, and 6.7L High Output Power Stroke Diesel engine.

6.8L V8 Gas Engine (A New Workhouse)

This new 6.8L V8 workhorse, standard on XL models, raises the bar for entry-level performance with 405 hp and 445 lb.-ft. of torque.

Naturally aspirated with port injection, the engine uses a cam-in-block and overhead valve architecture with variable valve timing. It leverages the latest technology to deliver improved power and torque, especially in the lower rpm range where it’s needed to get heavy loads up to speed more quickly.

7.3L V8 Gas (The most Powerful Gas Engine in its Class)

The available 7.3L gas V8 engine provides high performance in a compact package, with available best-in-class gas V8 output of 430 horsepower, available best-in-class gas torque of 485 lb.- ft.1,2, and expanded towing and payload capability for the toughest of jobs.

The pushrod V8 design optimizes low-end torque and the variable-cam timing helps to optimize high output power.

6.7L Power Stroke Diesel (A Proven Performer)

This available 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine includes a 36,000-psi  fuel-injection system that helps optimize combustion and provide an excellent pedal response. Forged steel pistons provide a high-firing pressure capability and less friction for improved durability.

A turbocharger with a fully electronic vane actuator helps cold-weather performance, while the grille design ensures plenty of airflow to help keep things cool.

6.7L High Output Power Stroke Diesel (New High-Performance Engine)

This available new High Output Diesel engine incorporates a turbocharger with a cooled compressor and stainless-steel exhaust manifolds helping it deliver the best available diesel 500 hp in the class and the best-in-class maximum available 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque.

Towing Features on Ford F350

The 2023 Ford F350 is available with various towing features such as Standard Trailer Sway Control, Trailer Brake Controller, Standard Hill Start Assist, and 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package.

Trailer Sway Control

The Trailer Sway Control was available for the 2023 Ford F350 trucks. It works with AdvanceTrac to detect trailer sway, and reduce it as necessary. The AdvanceTrac works with the Roll Stability Control (RSC) system.

The AdvanceTrac feature comes with additional software that monitors the vehicle’s performance while towing. The yaw motion of the vehicle is measured by the software, and then the sway condition is reduced after the software determines it.

Trailer Brake Controller (TBC)

TBC uses braking input, vehicle speed, and ABS logic to balance the performance of the truck brakes and electric trailer brakes. The trailer brake controller output, gain levels, and trailer connection status is displayed in the instrument cluster.

When the ABS module senses the towing vehicle’s brakes are approaching lockup, the controller’s trailer braking strategy changes to compensate for traction conditions, reducing the risk of trailer brake lockup.

TBC is fully integrated into the truck’s brake system, and provides instant visual, and audible warnings in case of accidental trailer disconnect.

Standard Hill Start Assist

Hill Start Assist helps to prevent rolling back on a grade by momentarily maintaining brake pressure until the engine delivers enough torque to move the truck up the hill. You’re always covered while heading up, or in reverse mode.

5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package

All models of the 2023 Ford F350 Pickup truck were available with the 5th-wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package which provides the necessary under-the-bed hardware to allow mounting of a 5th-wheel/gooseneck hitch in the pickup bed to put more of the trailer weight over the tow vehicle.

Smart Trailer Tow Connector

The Smart Trailer Tow Connector offers trailer connection status, lighting, and trailer battery alerts/warnings. The alerts, and warnings are displayed in the message center or the productivity screen.

Smart Trailer Tow Connector system is included in all optional towing packages.

Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System

The 2023 Ford F350 Super Duty was also equipped with a camera system including available 360-degree camera, trailer reverse guidance cameras, rear view camera, rear central high-mounted stop lamp camera, and LED center high-mounted stop lamp.

Tow Technology Bundle

The Tow Technology Bundle was available for the LARIAT, and King Ranch model. It includes adaptive steering, auto high-beam headlamps with rain-sensing windshield wipers, lane-keeping Alert, Trailer Reverse Guidance, Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System.
